About Us
Our mission is to protect and improve the lives of domestic rabbits across the Inland Northwest. We are a rescue and prevention organization — our work supports rabbit welfare and responsible ownership, and we do not promote, recommend, or facilitate rabbit breeding.
Every decision begins with the safety, health, behavior, and quality of life of the rabbits in our care.
We work within our capacity so every rabbit we accept can receive safe, appropriate, and sustainable care.
Rescue includes preventing the next crisis. Spay and neuter is fundamental to our work, alongside education, owner support, and early intervention.
We treat people with dignity and respect while addressing neglect, abandonment, and unsafe care honestly and directly.
Lasting change comes from working alongside fosters, adopters, veterinarians, shelters, community members, and fellow rescues.
We use the resources entrusted to us responsibly and transparently, protecting our ability to care for rabbits today and into the future.
In March 2026, six rabbits were found dumped at the Target on Spokane's South Hill. The three of us didn't know each other directly, but we were connected through mutual friends, and we each showed up to help. Four of the six rabbits were female — and all four were pregnant.
Six quickly became twenty. At that point, starting a rabbit rescue wasn't really a decision — it was the only option. Northwest Bunny Rescue grew out of that one afternoon, and we've been rescuing, fostering, and rehoming rabbits across the Inland Northwest ever since.

Now
Every rabbit who comes through our care is spayed or neutered — it's essential for their long-term health, prevents reproductive cancers, and curbs territorial behavior. Most are also litter trained in their foster home, so your bunny arrives clean and ready to settle in.
We have no paid staff and no facility overhead. Every dollar donated goes directly toward vet care, spay/neuter surgeries, hay, and supplies for bunnies in foster care.
Our relationship with adopters doesn't end at adoption day. We're here for bonding advice, diet questions, and anything else that comes up over your bunny's lifetime.
Intake decisions consider welfare need, foster capacity, and medical and financial resources, so every rabbit we accept has a responsible pathway through spay/neuter and appropriate placement.
We take in rabbits that are surrendered, strays, or at risk — within our capacity to provide safe, sustainable care — and get them examined, vaccinated, and spayed or neutered.
Volunteer fosters house, socialize, and get to know each bunny so we can match them with the right home.
We walk every adopter through proper housing, diet, and handling so bunnies land in homes built for their needs.
We carefully screen applications to find a forever match, and stay available for support long after adoption day.
Whether you adopt, foster, or donate, you're directly responsible for a bunny finding a loving home.
